Ugh. This definitely wasn't one of my best weeks. My body must have needed some rest, cuz that's what it got this week.

Before I get into my review of the week, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who entered my giveaway for a StrideBox.

Week in Review - 02/19/16

Monday, 2/13

The Plan ↠ 2 mile Recovery Run
Reality  ↠ Nice, easy run with Sallie. Felt good to shake out Saturday's long run. We did about 2.82 miles. I tried to take a shortcut, but it ended up being a long-cut. Oops!

Tuesday, 2/14

The Plan ↠ NTC The Power Start | 30 min
Reality ↠ Done! Endurance rep-based workout. It took me a couple minutes longer, but it was a great workout.

This delicious egg bake was in the oven while I worked out. Perfect multi-tasking.

A delicious Valentine's Day treat

We had a movie night for Valentine's Day and ordered in Domino's. We watched The Accountant and then Keeping Up with the Joneses. I actually really enjoyed The Accountant. It was a bit slow at times, but overall, I liked the flow of the story. Keeping Up with the Joneses was good, too, but I didn't like it quite as well.

Wednesday, 2/15

The Plan ↠ NTC The Complete Crush | 45 min
Reality ↠ REST
I woke up at 4:30am with some tummy issues after overindulging a bit Tuesday night, so I went back to bed and slept in until 6:15.

Thursday, 2/16

The Plan ↠ NTC The Circuit Breaker | 29 min
Reality ↠ REST
I woke up so very tired. I laid in bed trying to simultaneously convince myself to get out of bed and to call in sick. Getting up won out, but it was a touch decision. LOL.

My Sallie-girl had a check-up and then her teeth cleaned and a couple lumps removed. The lumps aren't anything serious, but a couple had gotten quite large. Since she was put under for the procedures, I think it was causing me a little stress throughout the day.

Friday, 2/17

The Plan ↠ REST
Reality ↠ REST
Kind of a repeat of Thu. Another real struggle to get out of bed and get ready for work.

Saturday, 2/18

The Plan ↠ 6-hour run, or at least 21 miles
Reality ↠ REST.
I woke up with a sore throat and zero motivation to get out on the trails. It was cold and rainy and I just wanted to curl up. Which I did. I also watched a lot of TV.

Sunday, 2/19

The Plan ↠ REST
Reality ↠ 5-hour run | 16.3 miles
A little slower than I'd have liked, but I'm glad I managed a long run this weekend. I've now officially run every mile of the Beginner's Luck 55k. Now to focus on getting even more familiar with the course and improving my time. I do feel like I'm on track with preparing for my first ultra.

Clean It Out, Use it Up update

Week 7: Cornmeal, which I used to make Clean Eating Maple Cornbread.

It turned out really good. I liked the subtle maple flavor with the chili I made, but Jeff wasn't a fan of them together.

What was the highlight of your week last week?
Do anything fun for Valentine's Day?
Have you seen either The Accountant or Keeping Up with the Joneses?

I'm linking up today with Tricia & Holly for the Weekly Wrap as well as Ilka & Angela for Sunday Fitness & Food.

  1. I have not seen either one of those movies. Sounds like a great Valentine's day to me. It is always so busy going out to eat on the day.

  2. I don't go to many movies, nor do we take the time to watch them on tv or Netflix. I know, boring, huh! That egg bake dish looks awesome!!!

  3. The highlight of last week was the weather! I do love a February warm up, even though I know it's just a tease. Good for you, listening to your body. I'm going to do the same thing this week.

  4. I started February off with a week break from cardio. I was still doing strength training, but I couldn't mentally get motivated to run.

    1. That sounds perfect! At least you kept up with the strength training. My motivation was gone for all things physical. :(

    1. Thanks, Janelle. I think I pushed myself a bit too hard too quickly, which is why my body was screaming for some rest.

  9. I'm sorry to hear about your sore throat (those are the worst!!) but so glad you were able to get out for a long run on Sunday. You'll definitely be familiar with the course for your ultra race! We went to our favorite Thai restaurant to celebrate Valentine's Day. We typically watch movies on Saturday evenings and will check those out. Thanks for linking, Clarinda!

    1. The egg bake was delicious! The Accountant is a little slow and not necessarily action-packed, but I still liked it. And how it portrayed Autism and how different treatment may affect a person. It might not be for everyone, though. :-)

  11. We saw the Accountant and I did think it was slow at first but I enjoyed the movie!
Humm I"m going to side with Jeff of maple flavor and chili. But nothing goes better with chili than cornbread! :)

    1. Oh, yay! I'm glad I'm not the only person who like the movie. :-)

I'll have to make some regular cornbread next time, so that Jeff eats some. lol.
