Weekly Wrap - May 6

Linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap. Be sure to stop by their blogs to see what everyone else was up to last week.

Whew! I just spent about 4 hours meal prepping for the week. I sure hope it pays off because that's a LOT of time on my feet in the kitchen. I'm very excited to get started on the TIU Bikini Series tomorrow and am very hopeful that I'll see some really positive results over the next 8 weeks.

Weekly Wrap

Workouts

I took it a little easy this week since the Bikini Series is starting next week. I focused mostly on getting in my 3 runs and doing yoga to prepare my body and mind for the upcoming challenge.

Weekly Wrap - Apr 30-May 6

Work has been super busy/crazy and my days have been long and filled with meetings. I only made it out for a workday walk once this past week. I'm hoping that things will start to calm down a bit soon, so I can make my walks a priority again {before it gets too hot}.

I got in another 3-mile run this morning! After two 2-milers during the week!! My ankle didn't bother me at all, but my knee started in. Booo. Not today, but during the two earlier runs it wasn't much fun.

@EnjoytheCourse took an easy week to prepare for the #TIUBikiniSeries! Just a few great runs, some yoga, oh yeah, and she tried CycleBar.

I got in 4 lovely yoga videos this week. They were just what I needed. :)

Yesterday, I stepped out of my comfort zone {working out at home} and met a couple girls for an intro ride at CycleBar. It was a lot of fun to push myself in a new way. I did have a little trouble hearing the instructor at times, and I'm sure I missed a few of the cues to changes gears. After the class, there was a 30 minute HIIT workout. It was TOUGH after all the spinning.

Other Happenings

I've mentioned how crazy work has been the past few weeks. Well, one of the reasons is that I got a promotion! It was announced late Friday, so I couldn't say anything until then. It will be a bit more responsibility, but I'm very excited about it.

I started using Instagram Stories. It's been fun, so we'll see how long it continues. It's fun to just share something really quick, and I'm sure a lot of my check-ins for the Bikini Series will likely be shared on Stories.

The Mexican restaurant in the casino across the street from CycleBar gave away a free skinny margarita, if you showed proof of the class. Yes, please! A couple of us went over for the free drink. I also enjoyed the most delicious salad. And good conversation, too.

  1. Honestly, I have not taken the time to figure out the Instagram stories...are they kind of like Snapchat, but on Instagram? I think I heard they disappear after awhile (??).

    1. From what I'm told, yes, they are kind of like SnapChat, but I never really got on the SnapChat bus. :-D They disappear after 24 hours, but depending on your settings, they save to your phone. :)

  2. Congratulations on your promotion! Well done! I love taking spinning/cycling classes but like you I really struggle to hear the instructors sometimes so I just watch whether people seem to be going faster or struggling and then I follow suit!

    1. Thank you so much! :)
It was my first spin class in many years. I think I had a little trouble with the loud music and his British accent. It wasn't really strong, but with the music, it was a little hard for me to catch all the cues. lol Nice to tip to look around to see if most people were struggling or going faster. I'll remember that for next time.

  3. Congrats on that promotion! I'm so glad to see you running again, but what's up with the knee?

I have tried IG stories, but I just don't get them...

    1. My knee has been good this week, so I think it was just a blip. lol

I think the key for IG stories is to not get too wrapped up in the numbers and just have fun with it. :D

  4. You're so good about meal prepping - I really need to do that! I have lunch for today but no clue what I'm going to eat for the rest of the week lol

Congrats on your promotion - that's awesome!!

    1. Thank you, Kim! I'm excited about my promotion, though my day-to-day isn't changing too much (yet!). I'm trying to be good with meal prep/plan at least for the next 8 weeks. Hopefully longer.

  5. Congrats on the promotion!
I don't really meal prep, but I plan meals for the week and shop for those ingredients. Then I can decide which meals to make on which days. I do try to pack my lunch the night before, to save a few minutes in the mornings, but I do forget sometimes.

    1. Thank you, Lesley!
I'm terrible about actually putting my lunch together at night. I should do it, though, because I'm always running late in the mornings. lol

  6. Sign me up for CycleBar if I get a margarita afterwards. LOL. That sounds like a fun treat to share with friends. I did IG stories for a while. I'd put little video clips in there (like doing pushups). Meh. Congratulations on your promotion at work! Thanks for linking.

    1. Right?! A margarita after anything is good in my book. LOL
Video isn't my thing, but maybe one day I'll breech that comfort zone. ;)
