Happy Thanksgiving

It's Turkey Day! Can you even believe it?!

Happy Thanksgiving

This quote randomly found its way into my Inbox, and I really loved it!

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. --Melodie Beattie

I sincerely hope your day is filled with GRATITUDE, delicious smells wafting from the kitchen, family & friends, good food & fun!

Gobble! Gobble!

What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish?
How are you celebrating today? We are skipping all traditional aspects of Thanksgiving and are instead heading outside to enjoy some of the gorgeous nearby trails. I love living in Vegas!

Thankful Thursday #3

Thanksgiving is just one week away. What are your plans? Big dinner? Gathering with family or friends? We don't really have any plans yet, but I'm thinking maybe a picnic in the mountains. Hmmm. I'll have to think on that a little more.

But today, here are a few more things I'm thankful for.

Thankful Thursday #2

Happy Thursday!!

We're another week closer to Thanksgiving!

Thankful Thursdays 2016

Time to take a few minutes to reflect on the things I'm thankful for this week.

Living in Las Vegas. I'm so grateful to live in a place that is so close to absolutely gorgeous hiking trails. Some of my favorites are Red Rock National Conservation Area.

Thankful Thursday #1

Happy 1st Thursday of November. :)

We don't really do much to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, but I thought it would be a good excuse time to reflect on some of the things I'm thankful for with a revival of Thankful Thursdays.

Thankful Thursday #10

I had a great day!

I'm thankful for frozen pizza! So fast. So easy. So tasty! Hitting just the right spot after my 17+ mile bike ride.

I'm thankful for google maps. Even though it sometimes creates the funkiest routes, it's still super helpful when navigating around on my bike.

That's it for now.

I'm off to finish enjoying my pizza and watch Megamind.

Thankful Thursday #9

Day 9

Ok, so the first 8 TT weren't numbered, but I thought it might be fun to start numbering them, so here we are to #9 (pathetic considering I started this over a year ago) and my first numbered post.

Today I am grateful for:

Band-Aids - They help heal, and more importantly, they keep me from getting blood all over the carpet at work (see yesterday's post).

{source}

Pop-Tarts - Ok, so these are actually Wal-mart's brand, but they are so tasty and quick and easy and just perfect for when you're in a hurry and don't have time for an actual breakfast.

My husband - He has got to be one of THE most supportive, encouraging husbands out there. I am so grateful every.single.day. BUT I was especially grateful at how understanding he was during/after our first scuba lesson. He helped calm me down and even helped me not to give up but to get back in the pool the next day. He is nothing short of amazing. Last night, he helped me get ready for my Pedal & Paddle this weekend by finally installing the computer he gave me for my birthday last Aug on my bike

and attaching a mirror to my helmet.
I figure a 45-mile bike ride will be a good time way to get used to riding with a mirror. So, we'll see how that goes.

What are you thankful for today?

Being Grateful

Day 2

Last summer, I was on a roll with posting a Thankful Thursday post each week. I'm not sure what happened, but they suddenly stopped in mid-July. I even had a post in draft that I never finished.

It was simply a link to a friend's post with a quotation from President Hinckley about gratitude. I still think it's a great quotation!

"Be grateful. How thankful we ought to be. How comfortably we live. How very easy is life compared to what it once was. . . . We have it so easy, so pleasant, so delightful. We ride in cars that are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. . . . [We have] the miracles of medicine, the miracles of science, the miracles of communication, transportation, education---what a wonderful time in which to live. Of all of these wondrous, challenging things with which we live, I hope you regard it a blessing to be alive in this great age of the world. . . . I hope you walk with gratitude in your hearts, really. Grateful people are respectful people. Grateful people are courteous people. Grateful people are kindly people."
Be grateful (The Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p. 250).
I am grateful for so many things in my life - especially to be living in a time with so many creature comforts!

Summer and AC and Running with Friends

I missed posting my Gratitude list last week. :-(

This week, I'm thankful for:
It's been HOT, HOT, HOT this summer.
And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!
I've always been in the "I'd rather be hot than cold" camp, so this summer have been delicious for me!

Even though I like it HOT, I'm still also grateful for AIR CONDITIONING, so I don't have to do this all day.

I'm also grateful to be able to RUN! I love running. There were a couple years when my shins would hurt too much to run, but that has been changing, and I've been forcing myself to run a few times a week. Today I had the wonderful opportunity to run with my friend, Tacy. We ran further and longer than I normally do on a morning run, AND I made it to work on time. Whoo hoo!

Weather, Cars, America

Today has been long.
I have been cranky.
Don't really feel like writing this post,

BUT

It is important to express gratitude,

SO

even though I'm not particularly feeling it today,

HERE GOES!!

I'm grateful it didn't rain on our camping trip last weekend.
We were a little concerned because it was forecasted to be a big storm with hail and everything. We didn't exactly feel good about sleeping in a tent in that weather.

On a similar note, I'm grateful for the beautiful sunshine.
Even though I spend my days inside with my back to the window, it's nice to know I can always turn around and see the sun shining.

I'm grateful my husband is picking me up from work today.
I'm just happy I don't have to walk to the shuttle. I'm just not feeling up to it.
Plus, he picked me up on Tuesday, and we got home 20 minutes before the shuttle even left Minneapolis to head to St Paul!

I'm grateful for the 4th of July.
And for the festivities that await me this weekend to celebrate:
Ward Picnic, Friends' BBQ, Dinner with Family, Picnic at Uncle Rodney's, Fireworks

What are you grateful for today? What are your holiday weekend plans?
